A bit of silly season in the Formula E world has meant a shakeup in the driver lineup for the new season, lets take a look at who's driving for which team and a bit about them.
Envision
Robin Frijns & Sebastien Buemi
Robin Frijns returns to Envision Racing for Season 10, after spending the previous season with ABT Cupra. With two Formula E race wins under his belt, the reigning Team Champions would have been eager to get their old driver back in the green overalls. Frijns is eager to help Envision Racing secure further championship titles, confident with his intentions of steering the team to further title silverware in Season 10.
Sebastien Buemi continues with Envision for a second season, heading into his tenth season in Formula E. The Ex-F1 driver and 2015/16 Formula E Drivers' Champion continues his second of the two year contract he signes with the team back at the start of Season 9. Last year it was a formidable campaign for the Swiss driver, scoring his first pole position since 2019 in Diriyah, ending up fourth and sixth in both races that weekend. His best race finish would have been on the podium in third in Hyderabad, but an overpower infringement saw him demoted to 15th. Buemi hopes his second season with the team is more successful.
Jaguar
Nick Cassidy & Mitch Evans
Nick Cassidy joins Jaguar to pair Mitch Evans and provide an all-Kiwi linup for the team. Formula E race winner, and 2023 title challenger, Cassidy joins fellow New Zealander to provide Jaguar with one of the strongest driver line-ups going into Season 10, with 15 wins, 37 podiums and 11 pole positions between them. Cassidy joins the British based team off the back of his most successful season to date, finishing as Drivers' World Champion Runner Up, and instrumental to the success of Envision Racing's Team World Championship.
Mitch Evans sticks with the team that has become his home since Jaguar joined the Formula E World Championship back in 2016. Evans managed to take pole position in Hyderabad, and secured his first victory of the season at the Sao Paulo ePrix, with more glory to follow in Berlin where he overtook Buemi in the final stages of the race to claim his second victory of the season. The future looks bright for this duo, combining their experience to push the team and each other even further.
Andretti
Norman Nato & Jake Dennis
Norman Nato joins reigning World Drivers' Champion Jake Dennis at Avalanche Andretti for Season 10, off the back of a strong Season 9 for the Frenchman. He scored the season-best result for Nissan in Rome in second place, and consecutive point-scoring outings in the last six races of the 2022/23 season. His impressive performance saw a fourth-place finish in the season finale that helped his previous team outscore their customer team NEOM McLaren in the standings.
Jake Dennis hopes to continue his success with Andretti into Season 10, after winning the Drivers' Championship last season with the team. Entering his fourth season in Formula E, sticking with Andretti from the start, he feels confident they can provide him even more success in the future. His multi-year contract from the end of Season 8 proves the team are assured in his ability to perform.
Porsche
Pascal Wehrlein & Antonio Felix da Costa
TAG Heuer Porsche continue their driver lineup from Season 9, with Wehrlein and Felix da Costa sticking with the German team into Season 10. The German driver, Pascal Weherlein, had his best season yet last year, leading the first half of the season with several wins throughout the season in Diriyah and Jakarta, finishing fourth overall.
Antonio Felix da Costa aims to relive his 2019-20 season where he won the Drivers' Championship. He joined Porsche last season, securing a debut podium in Hyderabad and taking his first victory in Cape Town after a masterclass race clenching the win in the final moments of the race.
DS Penske
Jean-Eric Vergne & Stoffel Vandoorne
Two-time Champion Jean-Eric Vergne sticks with DS Penske going into Season 10, alongside his Championship winning teammate, Stoffel Vandoorne. With a confident and strong lineup, DS Penske aim to build on the expertise both drivers offer from their race winning, and championship defending history, to grow the team into a more consistently successful future.
The French-Belgian duo are both aiming for a championship fight, hoping to move the team up from fifth in the standings at the end of Season 9.
Maserati
Jehan Daruvula & Maximilian Gunther
Jehan Daruvala makes the move from Formula 2 to debut in Formula E in Season 10. The Indian driver, first sat in a Formula E car last season, making two Rookie Test appearances with Mahindra Racing in 2023. He comes with a pretty decent racing history, with four wins & 18 podiums in his three year stint in Formula 2, after blasting through Formula 3 only spending a single season in the category before being promoted. He was also a part of the Red Bull Formula One Driver Academy, from 2020 until now, but it was announced his contract with Red Bull has come to an end, prompting his move to Formula E.
Maximilian Guenther continues with Maserati, after securing Maserati's first single-seater World Championship victory since Juan Manuel Fangio's in 1957. This victory and four other podium appearances in Season 9, sees a well deserved return to the team for Season 10. Guenther enters his sixth season in Formula E, earning him the reputation as one of the more well experienced drivers on the grid, despite his younger age.
Nissan
Oliver Rowland & Sacha Fenestraz
Oliver Rowland returns to Nissan, after a full-time debut with the team back in 2018 as a rookie. He left at the end of Season 7 to join Mahindra, after a 3 year stint for the Japanese manufacturer, taking five pole positions and five podiums, including a victory in Berlin in 2020. The Yorkshireman hopes to build on his previous successes with the team, and move forward from the impromptu departure from Mahindra mid-season last year.
Sacha Fenestraz continues his development with Nissan, after a promising Season 9. Coming off the back of an impressive rookie season, where he claimed pole position and the fastest Formula E lap of all time in Cape Town, he aims to bring even more success to the Japanese team.
McLaren
Jake Hughes & Sam Bird
Jake Hughes continues with McLaren after a successful rookie campaign in Season 9, qualifying third on his debut in Mexico, going on to finish fifth in the race. The British driver went on to score the team's first podium in Diriyah before another pole position in Monaco. While only debuting with the team last season, Hughes has been a part of the team for a number of years, when it was under the Mercedes-EQ Formula E name, as their reserve and development driver.
Sam Bird joins McLaren ahead of Season 10, bringing McLaren one of the most successful CV's of the drivers on the grid. Claiming 11 wins, 26 podium places and 6 pole positions over his 9 years in the series. The 36-year-old leaves Jaguar after a 3-season stint with the team, and says his move to McLaren is a "special" one.
Nio 333
Dan Ticktum & Sergio Sette Camara
Both drivers extend their existing contract with the team into Season 10, with NIO 333 Racing confident in their ability to push the team's performance further ahead. The British driver, Ticktum, improved steadily across the last season achieving three points finishes and solidifying NIO 333's position in the GEN3 era, outperforming both Mahindra Racing & ABT Cupra despite being the only team without a customer for its powertrain, limiting development capabilities. Ticktum is optimistic about Season 10 and hopes to further optimize their package to secure even more points.
Brazilian driver Sergio Sette Camara had a year of growth and learning in Season 9, with notbale performance in India, where he secured his best race result. Despite the challenges the drivers and team have faced this past season, they are eager to continue their partnership with NIO 333, and believe in the potential and resiliance of the team to continue their momentum forward.
Mahindra
Edoardo Mortara & Nyck De Vries
Edoardo Mortara moves from Maserati to Mahindra for Season 10, hoping to continue his run of race winning history in Formula E. The Swiss-Italian driver made a great first impression on his debut run, scoring a podium in second place on his first race weekend in Hong Kong, 2017. He took his maiden victory at the same place a year later, starting the first of five race wins so far, with likely many more to come. His future is set with Mahindra, signing a multi-year contract with the team.
Returning to Formula E, after a short stint in Formula 1, Nyck De Vries hopes to find more success in the series that saw him win the 2020-21 Drivers' Championship. The brutal driver market in Formula 1 saw the Dutch driver last just half a season with AlphaTauri, with the Red Bull owned team swapping him out after not being impressed by his performance, despite only being a rookie and still getting to grips with the series. Signing a multi-year deal, he, and the team, hope the pairing will see Mahindra back towards title contention in seasons to come.
Abt Cupra
Nico Muller & Lucas di Grassi
Lucas di Grassi returns to the team that saw him win the Drivers' Championship back in Season 3. Considered one of the most successful drivers in Formula E history, the Brazilian left the team (under the name Audi Sport ABT) after 7 years, when Audi quit the championship. Since then he spent a season with ROKiT Venturi in the 2021-22 Season, and Mahindra Racing last season. He aims to bring back his expertise to the team, and build what is now a small customer team back to the race win-challenging team it used to be.
Nico Muller partners di Grassi heading into his second year with the team, and third year in Formula E, after his debut with Dragon/Penske Autosport. It wasn't the best season last year after the team was making up for its one-year hiatus from the sport. A few sessions with a bit of luck saw some hope for Muller, with him securing fastest lap in Hyderabad and narrowly missing out on pole in Berlin after a wet qualifying. Overall he managed to secure his best finish with the team of 6th in Rome, hopefully the pairing of Lucas di Grassi can benefit both Muller and the team going into Season 10.
